For our second part of the project we interviewed Gianni Lopez and asked him these questions about his views on what it means to be American.
- What are some challenges that occur in your everyday life because of your race?
- What does equality mean to you as a minority?
- How do you think people of your race view Americans?
- How has inequality effected your family in the past?
- What is your view from the mountaintop and why is it that way?
After interviewing Gianni, we can definitely see what it's like from a minority's perspective. He talks about the struggles he faces as a minority in America. Gianni also talks about what it was like for family in the generations before him. The fact that Gianni is an American himself but has a different ethnicity makes his view very unique to our project. Gianni's view from the mountaintop was understandable and reasonable yet most likely unattainable. His desire to eliminate racism in America is one that is difficult to full fill but that doesn't mean change cannot continue.
This video has been edited and uploaded to youtube for others to view and realize Gianni's views.
